Tributes

In recognition of the contribution of the House of Podars to the Community the Society paid several tributes to the Founders of Podar.
To illustrate a few:

  1. On the suggestion of late Mr. Vallabhbahi Patel a life size statue of Mr. Anandilal Podar was put up in one of the most prestigious and prominent places in the heart of Bombay, namely Hanging Gardens.
  2. The citizens of Nawalgarh also put a statue circle with a life size statue of Mr. Anandilal Podar; which is now the most prominent place in Nawalgarh.
  3. The state of Jaipur (now Rajasthan) decorated Ramdeoji Podar with the title of Raja (King).
  4. The Municipal Corporation of Greater Bombay has named:
      • 3 roads in the city of Bombay after the name of Mr. Anandilal Podar.
      • A prominent place in the heart of Bombay as, “Ramdeo Podar Chowk”.
      • A place near the Maharashtra Government Office (Sachivalaya) as “Dr. Ramnath Anandilal Podar Chowk”.
  5. Several roads in Nawalgarh are named after the Podar family.
  6. During the Centenary year (1974) of Shri Anandilal Podar, several functions were organized. Hon. President of India, Mr. Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed specially visited Mumbai and was the Chief Guest at the Homage Function. Mr. B. D. Jatti, Hon. Vice – President of India, was the Chief Guest at the Public Homage Function at Jaipur whereas Hon. Vice – president of India, Dr. G. S. Pathak specially visited Nawalgarh (The birth place of the founder, Mr. Anandilal) to pay his homage.
  7. During the Centenary year (1996 – 97) of Raja Ramdeo Podar four main functions were organized. Hon. Vice – President Mr. K. R. Narayanan was the Chief Guest at the Valedictory Function at Nawalgarh. It also had participation of Mr. Baliram Bhagat – Hon. Governor of Rajasthan, Mr. Manohar Joshi – Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Sharad Chandra Pawar – Former Union Defense Minister, Mr. Sis Ram Ola – Union Minister for Chemical & Fertilizers, Mr. H. S. Bhabhra – Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and others.
  8. The other three functions had the presence of eminent persons like Pujya Sant Morari Bapu, Mr. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat – Hon. Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Mr. H. S. Bhabhra – Hon. Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Mr. A. S. Kasliwal – President-Elect, FICCI, Mr. Balasaheb Thackeray – Shiv Sena Chief, Mr. Sudhir Joshi – Minister for Education, Maharashtra, Mr. Shivraj Patil – M.P. & Former Speaker, Lok Sabha, Mr. Nani A. Palkhiwala – Eminent Jurist and Mr. R. P. Goenka – Eminent Industrialist.
